Supplying Our Home Gym and New Home

Author: turbo | Filed under: property

I still feel like a little boy inside. I have a difficult time peering into the mirror and seeing a fully realized mature man. I might have considered the birth of my second child would have altered it, yet I still appear to be in self-denial of the aging process.

And regarding aging — or instead fighting it off — my wife and I moved into a new home and this house possesses enough space in its basement for a home gym my wife had always desired. I am seeing dollar signs when I ponder the many large and tiny items needed, from the required but often forgotten weight bench and fitness mats to determining the best exercise bike. Stationary bicycles can be difficult now a days. Do you go recumbent or upright stationary bike? Should I go with an analog or electronic?

And then my dear wife seems set on getting an elliptical trainer as well. You read that correctly. One of the stationary bikes and an elliptical machine — not just one or the other. My guess is that the extra exercise equipment goes with the stretch mark treatment she began utilizing after she bore our youngest daughter. Oh boy I’m gonna get it for that jest.

I must be deliberate with our budget because our new home is more of a diamond in the rough. We desired it this way, but we still have to carefully budget everything, even the cabinet knob (no joke). My wife has an ambitious kitchen refacing design projected, but I have to remind her the bathroom sinks she desires put in will cost a pretty penny, as well.

Thankfully, we both enjoy the rustic, organic look, so we’re furnishing our new house with unstained furniture. Of course, it still involves some finishing, but she and I can keep the costs down and create better furniture than we could find in any store.

I recently came across a nice pair of coffee tables with some decent, raw knotting and a entryway table in matching cedar. For our outdoor patio we’re exploring outside fireplaces and we’ll furnish with a little inexpensive wicker furnitures at first.

Providing for a new home seem so adult, but I can’t help but feel like I’m just playing house. The new furniture and exercise equipment only feel as a new generation of toys.
